The North Carolina Courage take on Utah Royals FC on Saturday night at WakeMed Soccer Park. The Courage are coming off a 2-0 loss to the Kansas City Current last weekend, their fifth-straight match without a win. In hopes of ending the skid, Courage acting coach Nathan Thackeray said the team got a needed morale boost from interacting with fans at a season-ticket holder event on Wednesday. The Courage haven't won since a June 21 match against Houston. Against the Current, Courage player Kaleigh Kurtz tied the NWSL's record for consecutive regular season starts. She could break it this weekend, which would be a fitting honor for someone Thackeray called 'the ultimate professional.' The match starts at 7:30 p.m. And with the team looking to turn their fortunes around, the home crowd could play a big role. But the Royals will be no easy opponent, having lost to the Courage 2-0 in May. So the stage is set for an exciting matchup. The Courage will be looking to capitalize on their past success against the Royals. Nathan Thackeray will be counting on his players to step up and perform. Kaleigh Kurtz will be one to watch, as she looks to break the record for consecutive starts.
